This is the Polishing compound that I use. I make it myself it works well. I like it for a few reasons. The biggest reason is because I'm so tight and I like to save a few bucks where I can.
With this paste, a little goes a long way and it works best with clean media. My Polisher (a converted concrete mixer) uses 12 gal of wallnut media and I only need to use 2 1/4oz at the most of this paste. It does a GREAT job on the brass giving it a brand new look like it just came out of the factory.
The paste 'melts into the media quickly so it won't all collect in a single case. I usually rub it into the media with my hands to get it spread around early and so it won't stick to the polisher. Most average dirty brass will clean in one hour and the worst tarnished brass is new looking in 3-4 hours. In my smaller vibratory polisher (1/2 gal) a tea spoon or less is required. (Those of you who have been to my garage have seen the brass that I have polished reflecting from the dark.) If the brass is finish polishing and are still 'moist' with the polish, cut back on the amount you are polishing with.
The brass should be dry when finished polishing. Also, when my media begins to look dark, with this polish, you can place your wallnut media into a pillow case, wire tie the top and wash it. I'd like to wash it in my washing machine but have'nt wanted that crap in my washer. I use a large container outside the old fashioned way. A guy suggested that I go to the laundry mat so that if the bag opened you could just walk away. I'm just not that kind of guy so i wash it at home by hand.
I let it dry in the sun on a tarp and I turn it with a rake occasionaly until its all dry and your media is just like new. NO KIDDING. Like I said, I use it because I hate to spend money and I use a lot of media.
This paste only comes in a 10 oz size right now.
**After I wrote this, I decided to 'man up' and try it in the washing machine, (since I am single I can do this). It worked well until the spin cycle when the load was so uneven. But being me, I went out to my garage and got a 10 lb. lead bar and that evened the load. After checking the bag and wire tie, I put it in the dryer too. It all worked well but I ran the washer thru a cycle just to rinse it out and the dryer acted like I was washing a load of tennis shoes. The media came out like new. Yea! That was alot eaiser than by hand for sure.
